Yen's is a Story of the American Dream

Yen Bailey’s journey began with her parents, who fled war-torn Vietnam. Her father, a South Vietnamese Air Force pilot, bravely escaped the fall of Saigon by flying with his crew and dozens of Vietnamese refugees. They settled in Destin, Florida, where Yen and her brother were born and raised. Witnessing her parents' sacrifices and resilience deeply influenced Yen, inspiring her to pursue a career in law and public service.

A Tallahassee-based attorney and Tulane University and Florida State University Law School graduate, Yen has dedicated her career to public service. She served as a Senior Attorney for the Guardian ad Litem Program and spent over 13 years as an ethics attorney at The Florida Bar. Committed to her family, Yen stepped away from her law career at the Bar to care for her elderly father.

Yen is a proud wife and mother. She cherishes time with her husband, Steve Bailey, a lawyer and professor at Florida State University and former Army Green Beret, and their two teenage sons.

Yen’s dedication to civic engagement led her to co-found Every Vote Florida, a nonprofit voter outreach organization, where she served as Vice President. She also served on the board of Friends of the LeRoy Collins Public Library System, promoting literacy and supporting public libraries in Leon County.

Yen is running for office to address the needs and challenges of the average Floridian in the panhandle, believing her opponent, Neal Dunn, has failed to do so. For years, many in the district have felt neglected and left behind by Dunn, and Yen wants to be a voice for all in Washington D.C.

With her extensive background in public service and dedication to the community, Yen Bailey offers a fresh perspective for District 2. Her journey from the daughter of immigrants to a congressional candidate embodies the American dream and the power of perseverance.
